Writing Landscapes

Sometimes I just want to write about what it's like to be in a place.  I don't have a story attached to the place, but I like the idea of being evocative about landscape.

I saw a YouTube video last night that was set in a New Mexico, suburban area.  It reminded me of the house I lived in when my parents lived in Alamogordo.  The yards were neatly swept, pebbly dirt with a yucca plant or two in each corner, and the fences were eighteen-inch thick adobe structures that came up to the middle of my chest.  Dust covered the swingset, and the twilight sky was that empty blue turning to black you get when the air is parchingly dry and pollution-free.

As I said, no story, but the image made me want to write about it.

I also think this would be pretty good for a teacher who wanted to give an example of modern satire.

LOL. My journals are almost as dusty. I still get the urge to log stuff in them, but it seems that time and energy are ever-lacking resources that keep me from it.

    Congratulations on all your sales.…

Can you tell me how to get in touch with the artist. I would like to use a copy on some t-shirts as a prize for a kids fishing derby.

I was excited when I googled Adie Gladieux and got a hit that led me to your article. My 92 year old father passed away the day after Christmas. He had talked of two good friends he had in the army…

You're welcome. It was a journey, for sure.
