In Love Forever and Again

My wife and I often meet somewhere for a run after we're done teaching for the day.  Because I get out earlier, though, and she's faster than me, I'll sometimes start before she's shown up.  Sometimes she catches me.  Sometimes she'll run the loop in the opposite direction so we have a chance to see each other.  Yesterday, that's what she did.

We ran the Connected Lakes loop, a couple-mile long track that takes .3 of a mile to start.  I didn't know if she was going to get onto the course close to when I did, so I was tooling along comfortably on a back part of the trail, the sun low on the horizon in front of me, when she rounded the corner, running toward me.

Tammy has long, blonde hair.  Sometimes she braids it, but yesterday she put it into a simple ponytail.  The sun caught in her hair like a halo, like a gold nimbus, swinging side to side, like glimpses of angel wings.

I don't know if I was in the midst of an endorphin-fueled runner's high, or I was just incredibly happy to see her, but joyfulness hormones flooded my system.  She looked like a Valkyrie, a gliding warrior queen in running shoes, inspecting the trails in her domains.

And when a Valkyrie warrior queen passes you on a trail and says, "Hi, handsome," the day can't get better.

It was a "wow" moment.  Just wow.

Be romantic as often as you can with your wife. She'll return the favor and your life together will be enriched and, oh, so better.

LOL. My journals are almost as dusty. I still get the urge to log stuff in them, but it seems that time and energy are ever-lacking resources that keep me from it.

    Congratulations on all your sales.…

Can you tell me how to get in touch with the artist. I would like to use a copy on some t-shirts as a prize for a kids fishing derby.

I was excited when I googled Adie Gladieux and got a hit that led me to your article. My 92 year old father passed away the day after Christmas. He had talked of two good friends he had in the army…
