The Joy of Acceptance Notices

Yesterday, after four months of reading, sorting and contemplating, I was able to send acceptance notices for Hardboiled HorrorWhen I started the project, I talked about how hard it was to send the first rejections, particularly because I had not been on the sending side of the equation in a long time.  The hopes now are that I'm righting my karma (I did have a couple of personal acceptances during the process, so if the universe is all about paybacks, the blow hasn't fallen yet *g*).

Doug Wood of Notorious Press, the publisher, will tell me soon if I've sent a bit too many words, a bit not enough, or just enough, so there are a handful of authors who haven't heard from me yet.  As soon as I get the final say from him, the last notes will go out.  After that I will gather the personal info from the authors to go into the book, and send in my introduction.  Then we'll go into promotion of the book mode.

The whole process has been interesting, and I could see doing something similar again if the opportunity presented itself.

In the meantime, I'll be writing more.  I hope everyone else will be doing the same.  I like the idea of sitting at my keyboard, pecking away at my latest effort while somewhere in the blogosphere some of my friends are working too.

So, have you notified everyone? Have rejections gone out as well?

Since Doug hasn't said that I've sent too many or not enough, I have a small group of authors on the bubble. As soon as Doug gets back to me, the final rejects and acceptances will go out. Out of the 375 authors who sent me things, 370 of them know if they are in or not.

Okay, good to know.

I think I'm one of those five. Darn it, Jim - I'm a writer, not a patience instructer:)

Crud Crud Crud.

I'm assuming that I, too, am One Of The Five. Hmm. That kind of sounds like a title. If my kids weren't currently hanging from the light fixtures, I might sit down and write it.

This, perhaps, is why God invented bed-time.

Deary Dear
I must also be of the Fabulous Five. Nearly good news, indeed!

Re: Deary Dear
I got a note from Doug Wood today that his computer crashed, which is why he hasn't gotten back to me. A brief delay in the procedure, I hope.

Any further news on those five submissions?
Just wondering with regard to those still waiting for the Horror Anthology. Would love to know, if possible how it's going. Any word yet? If not, any idea when there might be a word?

Nothing. Nada. Nope. I'm waiting to hear from Doug Wood. He said he was having computer problems a couple of weeks ago, so it may be connected to that. I'll let everyone know as soon as I know.
